Dear Fellow-Alumni,
21st August 2025 was Founders’ Day and Homecoming Day! It was a special day for SBC alumni as it was a day set aside for them to ‘come home’!
It was also special because it was combined with Founders’ Day – the day set aside to remember our Founding Fathers, who under God’s guidance, established the Singapore Bible College.
The special guest speaker was an alumnus, Rev Andrew Chai (SOTC 2003), a missionary, artist, cartoonist, evangelist, and much more! He painted a mural on one of the walls on campus to celebrate this event.
It was also special because it was the Day that the newly renovated library was officially launched!
The Day was celebratory to say the least! The whole campus was buzzing and bustling with people and activities – indeed there was an air of festivity, joy, laughter and reconnections.
The Day began with breakfast at the canteen and ice-breaking games to connect the faculty and alumni from the different schools.
The service was solemn yet joyful . Over 100 alumni from all the schools came together to worship the Lord. Some alumni tuned in online to join the service too. The Speaker, Rev Andrew Chai spoke on the theme – Give Me This Mountain, from Joshua 14:6-15. Caleb at the age of 85 asked Joshua to give him the mountain as promised by God to him. The speaker challenged the listeners, especially the students and alumni, not to waver in their faith but to fix our eyes on Jesus, to depend on him, and to press forward despite the challenges we may be facing. He also reminded us of the need to have a pure heart, to be faithful to the end, and to continue serving the Lord by trusting and obeying him.?
The schools had separate breakout sessions before lunch and a nice lunch prepared by the cooks of SBC. After lunch the Mural was officially explained. What an amazing story that was revealed! The powerful artistic impression of Rev Chai, as he explained the painting, was significant and awe-inspiring. The story begins with people from different cultures and backgrounds called by God to leave their countries to enter SBC, in order to be equipped with God’s Word and honed with special skills, to then go forth to reach the world for Christ. The Mural ends with a huge ‘Tree of Life’, with its ever-increasing foliage, touching and reproducing lives across the nations!
Many took pictures beside the Mural, bought the artist’s miniature frames, bought faculty publications, listened to the music displays in the library, and continued mingling around the campus.?
A great Day of fun, food, fellowship, laughter and celebration!
May I challenge you, my fellow alumni, to persevere and be steadfast in your faith, to ask the Lord where you can serve him in the coming year with the gifts that God has entrusted to you. To be bold to ask God for your mountain and then to go and do great exploits for the Lord with his strength and his resources!
If you missed this event, please come and visit SBC and enjoy the new library facilities and take a look at the beautiful Mural and connect with the faculty, staff and students.
Give thanks to the Lord for he is good, his steadfast love endures forever!
Your fellow-sojourner,
