Dr. Benita Lim joined Singapore Bible College as an Assistant Professor in June 2025.
She earned her Master of Divinity in Biblical Studies from SBC in 2015, and served as a pastor involved in cradle-to-grave ministries while helming the youth group and worship service of a Mandarin-speaking Presbyterian church in Singapore. There, she was inspired to continue her theological studies at Fuller Theological Seminary in the United States, and obtained a Master of Arts in Theology and before completing her PhD in Theology and Culture.?
Dr. Benita’s deepest desire is to see the day that every tribe and tongue will worship God in spirit and in truth, and to build bridges across time, space, and peoples in our worship as we await that day. This desire is reflected in her dissertation entitled “Towards Glocal Reformed Eucharistic Theologies: A Comparative Study of John Calvin and the Presbyterian Church of Singapore’s Eucharistic Theology in light of World Christianity.”
Her academic pursuits are complemented by a deep commitment to local and overseas churches. Dr. Benita brings her pastoral ministry experience in Singaporean Chinese and Asian American churches, and remains actively involved in ministries as an itinerant preacher, speaker, and contributing writer/researcher in churches and parachurch organisations alike. Her current research interests are in liturgical theology, the Holy Communion, worship and the arts, gender and sexuality, disability, and World Christianity.
Dr. Benita is also a Registered Preacher with the Presbyterian Church in Singapore and a member of Glory Presbyterian Church.
