News & Updates (Feb-Apr 2025)

Rev. Dr. Clement Chia preached at nine local churches and two overseas churches. He conducted five seminars on biblical narratives, purpose of life, moral judgement, community, and suffering at S-Word Evangelical Free Church. He also delivered a seminar on filial piety and cultural apologetics for the Global Hakka Evangelism Association in Kuala Lumpur, and taught three sessions on “Love the Church to the End” for the Haggai Institute in Johor Bahru. He presented three seminars on Christian ethics related to wars, environmental care, and artificial intelligence at Faith Methodist Church, and gave a seminar on “Attending the Church with LGBTQ+?” for the Youth Fellowship of Providence Presbyterian Church. Finally, he was invited to serve as a member of the Founding Academic Committee of the Society for Chinese Public Theology and to be an examiner in two ordination committees for alumni.

Appreciation

Rev. Dr. Andrew Branham Spurgeon (School of Theology, English) ends his contract w.e.f. 31 May 2025. He has been an integral part of the SBC community since 1 Jul 2018 and dedicated seven years of faithful service, contributing to the growth of our students.

Sabbatical

Rev. Dr. Grace Tan will return from her sabbatical leave on 1 Jul 2025.

Dr. Justin Joon Lee will return from his sabbatical leave on 1 Jul 2025.

Dr. Peter Ho published a co-edited volume, Between the Psalms and the Twelve: Exploring the Nature and Shape of Composition (Eugene, OR: Pickwick, 2025). He was also the keynote speaker at the Kidmin Equipping Workshop on “Biblical Literacy: Helping Children Read, Understand, and Apply Scripture”.

Rev. Dr. Samuel Law conducted apologetics workshops for young adults at the two campuses of Grace Assembly of God. He also gave a Sunday School series on “Contextualization: Spiritual Discernment to Navigate Our 21st-century VUCA World” at Queenstown Baptist Church.

陈恩慧老师以网络教学方式为国际基督教教育神学院教授“姐妹关顾与灵命培育”。

李志秋老师参与了国际福音派神学教育理事会每三年一度的会议(ICETE C–25)。

张心玮老师分别于长老会爱恩堂讲授六堂利未记成人主日学,新加坡圣经教会主讲利未记专题,并于新加坡南洋理工大学华文学生团契分享与生命突破见证相关专题。

锺俊明老师应邀在在线主讲BC讲坛83期“人工智能之伦理漂白现象,兼论人工智能伦理框架的设计”讲座,并在香港中环金融团契分享“人工智能与工作伦理”专题。

Dr. Eudenice V. Palaruan was an online speaker on choral music for a masterclass organized by the Philippine Madrigal Singers and a choir clinician at Anglo-Chinese Junior College. He also served as the conductor at the two-day SBC Lenten concert, “VIA: Tread the Path”.

朱美娟老师受邀在兀兰播道会提供小组长训练课程,在印度尼西亚举办心理教育讲座,并应邀在五间教会讲道。

Mrs. Penny Quek spoke on “A Counsellor’s Perspective on Pastoral Care for and Outreach to Seniors” as part of a series of four public talks on “Ageing and Caring: Integrating Theology and Practice” organized by SOTE. She also gave a psychology special lecture on “Navigating Online Counselling Practices and Its Ethical Dilemmas” for SOC students and alumni.
