After graduated from Singapore Bible College, Rev Dr Grace Tan served at Providence Presbyterian Church (formerly the Chinese congregation at Orchard Road Presbyterian Church). Together with her husband, Rev Dr Jacob Hwang, they were sent to establish a congregation in the Western region of Singapore at Bukit Batok, and subsequently, she became the Associate Pastor. Both Rev Grace and Rev Jacob were ordained by the Presbyterian Church in Singapore in 2000. Their 15 years of labour gave birth to a fast-growing neighbourhood church, increasing from hundreds to thousands. In these 15 years of church building ministry, Rev Grace Tan had developed ministries such as children Sunday School, choir, youth group, women group, and so forth. During her tenure, she was responsible for the church prayer meeting, being the Principal of the children Sunday School, oversaw the women group, and pastored several churches within the region. Being mission-minded, she led ministry teams to Malaysia, Thailand, and China.
She joined the faculty of Singapore Bible College in 2010 and undertook the position as the Director of the Centre for Continuing Theological Education (CCTE) in 2012, to promote theological education for laypersons in the church. In the following year, she became the Associate Dean of Students, and in 2016, she assumed the position of Dean of Students, responsible for the life and discipline of the students. Currently, she is the Senior Dean of Student Formation, and responsible for the spiritual formation and renewal of the College. Rev Grace is committed to promoting Christian education, caring for women, and cultivating spirituality among Christians, and thus she is a sought-after speaker for Christian education, caring ministry to women, and Sunday School teacher’s training, locally and beyond the shore.
To glorify God by training faithful servants of Jesus Christ to edify the body of Christ and to make disciples of all nations
